The work has been selected following an open submission process which saw over 500 works proposed for inclusion by 206 artists. The exhibition will run from 20 May – 3 June.
No stranger to the arts world, XL Group insures some of the leading galleries, exhibitions and art collections around the world. The Group convened a selection panel which included local art experts Sean Kissane, Curator, Exhibitions, Irish Museum of Modern Art and Rayne Booth, Programme Curator, Temple Bar Gallery & Studios, along with local staff and XL Group’s Jennifer Schipf, Vice President of Fine Art & Specie.
It is anticipated that XL Group will purchase a significant number of the selected works for permanent display in its offices. Any pieces not chosen for purchase will be available for purchase to visitors.
The exhibition will be seen by XL Group staff, clients and wider stakeholders. Members of the public can view the exhibition by making a prior appointment with XL Group.
The submission process, exhibition and purchase of works is supported and managed by the non-profit organisation Business to Arts, which works across the arts and business sectors to help develop creative partnerships.
Speaking in advance of the exhibition, Jennifer Schipf, Vice President of Fine Art & Specie with XL Group said: “We were delighted with the response of Irish artists; the volume and quality of submissions is a real endorsement of talent in Ireland today.”
Andrew Hetherington, Project Director of Business to Arts said: “We’re heartened to be seeing renewed interest by business in purchasing from artists and galleries in 2014. XL Group is leading this discussion with this open submission exhibition from which their people are involved in selecting work they love for the company to own.”
